Learning Floristry While Caring for Her Veteran Father: The Story of 19-Year-Old Anna
Anna Diadia is one of the youngest participants in the Ukrainian Red Cross’s Reboot programme — she is 19 years old. She cares for her father, a veteran who suffered a serious injury and now lives with a disability. Living with him and supporting his needs, Anna was eager to develop her own skills so she could be a strong support for her loved one.
In Poltava, where she lives, the Ukrainian Red Cross’s Reboot programme offers professional training courses. Anna deliberately chose the “Modern Floristry” course, as it perfectly complements her main field of study — landscape design.
The skills she gained helped her better understand working with shapes, space, and plants, and showed her how the two areas can come together in a single profession. “It was a time for myself — a time that inspires me to keep going despite all the challenges. I already have ideas for how to apply these skills in future projects,” Anna shared after completing the course.
Every step she takes in her learning journey is not only a step towards her career but also a way to support her father. Anna quietly and steadily builds her future, balancing care for her loved one with her ambition to become a specialist in her chosen field. Her story is not full of loud words — it is about consistency, daily effort, and the desire to create beauty where it is needed.
