Austrian Foreign Minister Visits Ukrainian Red Cross Heating Point in Kyiv

Maksym Dotsenko, Director General of the Ukrainian Red Cross, met with Beate Meinl-Reisinger, Federal Minister for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria, during her official working visit to Ukraine.

During the visit, the delegation toured a Ukrainian Red Cross heating point in Kyiv. Maksym Dotsenko briefed the delegation on its operations and outlined the organisation’s key areas of work, the priority needs of affected populations, and emerging humanitarian challenges in the context of the ongoing full-scale war.

Particular attention was given to the response to the energy crisis caused by attacks on critical infrastructure. The Ukrainian Red Cross has been establishing and operating heating points, providing communities with generators and other essential equipment to help them through the difficult autumn and winter months.

The discussion also covered the activities of the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response teams, which assist people affected by attacks, carry out evacuations, provide first aid and psychological support, and help mitigate the consequences of emergencies in cooperation with the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

Support from international partners is crucial to ensuring uninterrupted humanitarian assistance and strengthening the Ukrainian Red Cross’s capacity to respond quickly to people’s needs across the country.
