The Ukrainian Red Cross has delivered generators to a residential care facility for older people in Kyiv

Today, three generators with a capacity of 13.75 kW each were delivered to a care home in Kyiv. Amid ongoing heating and power disruptions, the generators will provide uninterrupted electricity for the facility’s critical equipment and essential life-support systems.

The facility currently accommodates 225 older people and individuals with limited mobility, half of whom are internally displaced persons evacuated from frontline or temporarily occupied areas.
Over the past week, the facility has provided shelter to 15 additional residents of Kyiv’s left bank, who were offered support by social services and volunteers, including Ukrainian Red Cross teams, during door-to-door visits.

These generators are part of a large-scale international assistance effort. The Ukrainian Red Cross is receiving 447 generators delivered to Ukraine from the European Union’s strategic reserves (#rescEU) under the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. These generators are provided to support communities most affected by recent attacks on energy infrastructure.

The Ukrainian Red Cross, in coordination with the Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine and the Kyiv City State Administration, is ensuring the delivery of generators directly to regions and facilities where they are most urgently needed. These are mainly social care institutions, where a reliable electricity supply is essential to keep residents safe.
