Mykolaiv: Ukrainian Red Cross volunteers respond to the morning attack

This morning, Mykolaiv once again came under attack. The emergency response team of the Ukrainian Red Cross in the Mykolaiv region quickly arrived at the scene.

In coordination with first responders from the State Emergency Service, volunteers checked the area to identify people who might have been affected. They informed residents of the need to evacuate, supported people to leave the danger zone safely and in an organised way, and assisted older people and individuals with limited mobility who were unable to leave their homes on their own.

A Ukrainian Red Cross assistance point was set up, where volunteers provided psychological first aid as well as offered hot drinks and water.

According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, debris falling onto the roof of a nine-storey building caused a fire in the lift shaft. A total of 240 people, including five people with limited mobility, were evacuated from the building, two neighbouring apartment blocks, and a nearby kindergarten and lyceum.
