First Day of the 48-Hour Training for State Emergency Service Officers in Sloviansk

In Sloviansk, a 48-hour intensive first aid training programme for officers of the State Emergency Service (SES) of Ukraine has begun. The training is being delivered by instructors and trainers from the Ukrainian Red Cross.

On the first day, participants will practise essential first aid skills, including:

  • The first aid procedure — assessing the scene, evaluating the condition of the injured, calling specialists, and providing assistance.
  • Moving a casualty into the recovery (lateral) position.
  • Performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
  • Techniques for stopping external bleeding.
  • Assisting with airway obstruction, wounds, and other injuries.

The training is delivered in conditions as close to real life as possible, with hands-on exercises and teamwork.

The aim of the training is to prepare first responders to act confidently, quickly, and efficiently in any emergency situation.

Over the coming days, participants will continue to develop their skills to save lives even more effectively.

Since May, the Ukrainian Red Cross team has been running this 48-hour first aid programme for SES first responders. To date, over 2,600 emergency responders across different regions of Ukraine have been trained. Each of them is now better prepared and more confident to act when lives are at stake.
