The Ukrainian Red Cross participated in the first meeting of the reconstituted Interagency Commission on the Application and Implementation of International Humanitarian Law in Ukraine
The first meeting of the reconstituted Interagency Commission on the Application and Implementation of International Humanitarian Law in Ukraine took place with the participation of representatives from the Ukrainian Red Cross. Originally established in 2017, the Commission serves as an advisory body under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. Its mandate is to support the fulfilment of Ukraine’s international legal obligations in the field of international humanitarian law (IHL).
The Commission’s core functions include developing recommendations on the application and implementation of IHL in Ukraine, collecting and monitoring relevant data, and facilitating the adoption of measures aimed at ensuring compliance with IHL. It is also responsible for coordinating efforts among government authorities and ensuring effective cooperation across state institutions in matters related to IHL adherence.
A representative of the Ukrainian Red Cross serves as a permanent member of the Interagency Commission on the Application and Implementation of International Humanitarian Law in Ukraine. In line with its ongoing commitment to protecting victims of war, the Ukrainian Red Cross welcomes the resumption of the Commission’s work, recognising its role in strengthening the effective implementation of humanitarian objectives and in safeguarding the lives and dignity of those affected by war.
