The Ukrainian Red Cross, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, and SYLA project partners strengthen community preparedness

As part of the SYLA project, which aims to develop community capacity in emergency preparedness and early response, a meeting was held in Kyiv with participation from representatives of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. The SYLA project, funded by the European

Union, unites the efforts of the Ukrainian Red Cross, the German Red Cross, the Danish Red Cross, Acted and IMPACT to work hand in hand with communities to help save lives, prepare for emergencies, and recover swiftly to return to normal life. It is being carried out in the Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Sumy and Zaporizhzhia regions.

During the meeting, representatives from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine provided a detailed overview of their role within Ukraine’s civil protection system. They also discussed cooperation between the State Emergency Service and the Ukrainian Red Cross, as well as coordination in emergency preparedness and response with SYLA project partners.

Joint actions and coordinated cooperation enable stronger support for communities affected by the war and help increase their level of preparedness for ongoing and future challenges.
