The Ukrainian Red Cross donated 150 children’s bulletproof vests to the Sumy Regional Military Administration
On 12 September 2025, Maksym Dotsenko, Director General of the Ukrainian Red Cross, handed over 150 children’s bulletproof vests with a protection rating of 1 to the Regional Child Protection Service in Sumy.
“Today, all of Ukraine is living in a state of full-scale war. Among the regions particularly affected by constant shelling and destruction is Sumy. Every day, the local population faces dangers that threaten not only their property, but more importantly, their lives and health. In these conditions of ongoing threat, we are faced with an important task — to ensure the safety of civilians, especially children, as they are the most vulnerable group and require special care and protection. Evacuation from regions where hostilities are taking place is a necessary but difficult step, and we must do everything we can to make this process as safe as possible,” said Maksym Dotsenko.
According to Volodymyr Babych, Acting Head of the Regional Military Administration, providing protective equipment for children is vital in a border region like Sumy, which faces constant attacks. The region is placing particular emphasis on evacuating children from high-risk areas.
Olena Kirieieva, Deputy Head of the Regional Military Administration, expressed her gratitude to the Ukrainian Red Cross for supporting the Sumy region and helping to save children’s lives.
