The Ukrainian Red Cross has joined efforts to manage the aftermath of a large-scale fire in the Ostrivskyi Nature Reserve, located in the Rivne region

Recently, the emergency response team from the Ukrainian Red Cross in the Rivne region provided support in the Varash district, where personnel from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine were battling a widespread fire involving dry grass and shrubs. Ukrainian Red Cross volunteers offered emergency workers hot drinks, snacks, and water. Additional support was provided by volunteers from the Zarichne branch, who were actively involved on the ground.

On 5 September, the fire spread across approximately 5 hectares near the village of Ostrivsk. Efforts to extinguish the blaze were hampered by extreme heat, the absence of nearby natural water sources, and limited access for specialised equipment. Thanks to coordinated efforts, the fire was localised to 4 hectares, and there is currently no threat to nearby populated areas.
