From teacher to hairdresser: how Oksana made her dream come true thanks to the Reboot programme

Oksana, from Vynohradivka in the Mykolaiv region, devoted her life to children. As a teacher, she enjoyed stability, respect, and peace of mind. But deep down, she had always dreamed of bringing beauty and confidence to others by creating stunning looks with her own hands.

Making such a change wasn’t easy, but one day, Oksana decided it was time to follow her heart.

She moved to Mykolaiv, completed a hairdressing course, and grew more confident with every step.

When Oksana heard about the Reboot programme — implemented by the Ukrainian Red Cross with support from the Spanish Red Cross and Danish Red Cross — she applied for a microgrant. Her business plan for a beauty salon convinced the project team that she was ready to transform her own life and inspire change in the world around her.

Today, Ksenia Beauty Salon has opened its doors and is already gaining popularity. It welcomes clients and offers new opportunities, not just for Oksana but also for others seeking a fresh start.
