Mobile rehabilitation units have started operating in the Chernihiv region
Residents of the Chernihiv region who require rehabilitation services can now receive help directly at home. The teams’ first visit took place in the Snovsk urban community the week before last!
How do mobile rehabilitation units work?
During a visit, specialists:
- Assess a person’s physical condition and develop an individual rehabilitation programme.
- Conduct rehabilitation sessions based on the recovery prognosis.
- If necessary, provide rehabilitation assistive devices (such as walking frames, canes, crutches, wheelchairs, etc.).
- Assess living conditions and offer recommendations for improvements.
- Provide psychosocial counselling for emotional support.
A physical therapist and their assistant work together to help restore motor function after injuries, strokes, surgeries, and other conditions. They focus not only on physical recovery but also on providing essential emotional support.
How to get assistance?
Rehabilitation services can be accessed through a referral from a hospital, family doctor, social services, or mobile health units. Alternatively, you can contact the Ukrainian Red Cross hotline at 0 800 332 656.
Expanding the reach of mobile rehabilitation units
In 2025, the Ukrainian Red Cross mobile rehabilitation units will begin operating in four additional regions: Ternopil, Odesa, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhia. In total, starting this year, the project will operate in 13 regions across Ukraine.
Mobile rehabilitation units provide not only physical rehabilitation but also vital support to help individuals return to an active life in their communities!
