Kharkiv: The Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team assisted in the aftermath of the attack on a residential building

The Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team in the Kharkiv region, in collaboration with the city’s emergency services, worked to mitigate the consequences of the attack. The volunteers conducted door-to-door visits to seven houses alongside the State Emergency Service and the police, assisted residents in evacuating from the damaged building, and rescued two cats. They also provided first aid to two victims. Additionally, the volunteers offered support, including psychological first aid, to residents of the affected buildings at a warming centre set up by the city council.

It is important to note that on 2 March, Russian troops launched an attack on Kharkiv. According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the attack led to the partial destruction of a five-storey residential building and a fire on the upper floors. Eight people were reported injured, including one child.
