The CVA Level II training, aimed at strengthening the capacity and operational readiness of the Ukrainian Red Cross in the field of cash and voucher assistance (CVA)
The CVA Level II training, aimed at strengthening the capacity and operational readiness of the Ukrainian Red Cross in the field of cash and voucher assistance (CVA), was recently held in Kyiv. The goal of the training was to enhance the skills of specialists involved in implementing CVA programmes in Ukraine, facilitate the sharing of experiences among Movement partners, and introduce best practices for responding effectively to the humanitarian needs of the population.
The training was attended by 23 specialists from the National Committee of the Ukrainian Red Cross, as well as representatives from the Sumy, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, and Kherson regional branches, and the Kyiv city branch, all of which implement CVA programmes to support affected populations. Experts from the Austrian, Canadian, and Norwegian Red Crosses also participated in the event.
The training was facilitated by experts from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), as well as representatives from the Austrian, Netherlands, and Danish Red Crosses, and specialists from the Ukrainian Red Cross Innovative Financing Unit.
The training programme included:
- An overview of key principles and approaches to implementing CVA programmes in various geographical and economic settings.
- An analysis of all stages of the project cycle for implementing cash-based programmes.
- Practical simulations: development of a work plan, organisation of registration and distribution of aid, analysis of the market system, and evaluation of its impact.
- An exchange of experience between experts from the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and specialists implementing CVA programmes in their regions.
- Thematic sessions facilitated by representatives from the Health Cluster and Cash Working Group, as well as delegates from the German and Danish Red Crosses.
The training was held with the support of the British Red Cross.
