The Work of the Ukrainian Red Cross Team in the Cherkasy Region Following the Drone Attack

During a drone attack in the Cherkasy region, one of the drones fired by the Russian army crashed into the garden of a household in a village within the Cherkasy district. According to the regional military administration, the explosion damaged around a dozen houses, a shop, and a car.

All relevant services, including the team of the Cherkasy regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross and the emergency response team of the Ukrainian Red Cross in the Cherkasy region, responded promptly. The first priority was to quickly repair the damage to protect the homes from the cold and bad weather.

Volunteers assisted 14 households affected by the attack, providing tarpaulins, OSB boards, and plastic sheeting to cover broken windows and ceilings, as well as emergency response kits. A support station was set up to offer tea, coffee, and psychological first aid to both responders and victims.

The next phase of support, to be provided by the team from the Cherkasy regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross with the backing of the Canadian Red Cross under the Winterisation programme, will involve offering compensation to 11 households that have applied for assistance with the repair of damages.
