Social Laundry “We Stand by Those in Need”: More Than Just Cleanliness

Imagine a place where care starts with the simplest thing – clean laundry.

In the Industrialnyi district of Kharkiv, a social laundry called “We Stand by Those in Need” Cleanliness Centre is opening, and it will change the lives of many.

It is more than just a laundry, drying, or ironing service. It is a space where anyone facing difficult life circumstances will feel supported. Families of internally displaced persons, students, and residents of the Industrialnyi and Nemyshlyansky districts of Kharkiv will be able to use the available services and find psychological support at the same time.

For those who have had their normal routine disrupted by the war, this place will become a symbol of support. It represents comfort and confidence, as it cares not only for clothes but also for the mental health of its customers.

“Despite the difficult situation in the heroic city of Kharkiv, thanks to the support of sponsors and mentors, we are taking our bold ‘step of faith’ that will lead us to victory and financial success! We believe that, together with the ‘We Stand by Those in Need’ Cleanliness Centre, life will become a little easier, as we strive to support and fill the lives of our people with confidence and provide at least a little comfort and care,” shared Viktoriia Yakymenko, branch and volunteer development specialist at the Kharkiv regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross.

The initiative is implemented as part of the “Strengthening the Resilience of War-Affected People through Business Development and Social Innovation” programme, REDpreneurUA. The programme supports social enterprises focused on improving the quality of life in the community and creating innovative solutions for those in need.
