“True change starts with believing in yourself” — Valeriia, a participant in the “Reboot: Expanding Employment Opportunities” programme

When the full-scale invasion began, Valeriia was forced to leave her native Mykolaiv and relocate with her family to the village of Ozerianka in the Ternopil region. A hairdresser by profession, she faced difficulties returning to her beloved work after a long break — she struggled with self-confidence.

The Reboot programme, implemented by the Ukrainian Red Cross in the Ternopil region with support from the Spanish Red Cross and the Swiss Red Cross, marked the beginning of a new chapter for Valeriia. She completed a training course for hairdressing professionals, refreshed her knowledge, and learned modern techniques. Shortly after finishing the course, she successfully secured a job at a local salon.

Today, Valeriia is again working in her chosen profession, earning a stable income, and starting a new chapter in her life. Her story is a testament to how self-belief, support from loved ones, and new opportunities can open the door to lasting change.
