Mine Risk Education for Schoolchildren in Kyiv
In Kyiv, during the first half of October, instructors from the Ukrainian Red Cross conducted group information sessions on ‘Mine Risk Education and Safer Behaviour’ for primary and secondary school children.
During these meetings, the instructors discussed the dangers of mines and unexploded ordnance, how to identify hazardous areas, and the protocols for safer behaviour. They also provided phone numbers to call in case of encountering suspicious objects. Additionally, individual information sessions are held for citizens and internally displaced persons (IDPs) at the Ukrainian Red Cross branches in the capital during humanitarian aid distributions. Everyone has the opportunity to learn more about potentially dangerous areas and the most common types of mines and explosive devices.
We would like to remind everyone of the rules for safe behaviour if you encounter explosive devices:
- Stop.
- Do not panic.
- Do not touch.
- Call 101 or 102.
