For about two years, a mobile health unit has been operating in the Izium district, Kharkiv region
This year alone, a mobile health unit of the Ukrainian Red Cross has conducted 1,625 appointments for 347 patients in the Izium district of the Kharkiv region.
The unit consists of a doctor, two nurses, and a driver. It serves residents of the villages of Bryhadyrivka, Babenkove, Levkivka, Fedorivka, and remote areas of Izium, where many bedridden and disabled individuals live.
Like other mobile health units of the Ukrainian Red Cross, this unit is periodically visited by the regional coordinator. Recently, a monitoring visit took place while the team was working in Bryhadyrivka, a village with a population of 200. During the day, they provided medical care and distributed necessary medicines to 29 residents.
The unit’s doctors noted that many patients in this region primarily seek care for cardiovascular diseases (40% of patients per month), followed by gastrointestinal diseases (8.8%) and musculoskeletal issues (8%).
Transport to Bryhadyrivka runs only twice a week, making it difficult for residents to reach the city, where doctors and pharmacies are located. As a result, they eagerly await the arrival of the Ukrainian Red Cross mobile health unit.
