Specialists from the mobile rehabilitation unit of the Rivne regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross conducted a physical rehabilitation event for Active Longevity Club members
On International Doctor’s Day, a regular meeting of the Active Longevity Club, based at the Social Services Centre of the Zdolbuniv branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross, focused on health recovery, specifically physical rehabilitation. The information session was led by representatives from the mobile rehabilitation unit of the Rivne regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross, who introduced the Community Rehabilitation project. They discussed the aims and methods of evidence-based rehabilitation and physical therapy, as well as the operations of the mobile rehabilitation unit.
“Rehabilitation is a set of interventions aimed at optimising and improving a patient’s ability to function and interact with their environment. Essentially, we, the specialists of mobile rehabilitation units, help individuals return to their normal daily activities and reintegrate into society as much as possible,” noted Valentyna Tyshkova.
She also mentioned that the mobile rehabilitation unit in which she works does not yet serve all territorial communities of the region.
Another guest at the event, Liudmyla Slipenko, Deputy Director of Medical Services at the Zdolbuniv Primary Health Care Centre and a long-time general practitioner, explained the procedure for patients seeking assistance from the mobile rehabilitation units. The first step in this process is to contact a family doctor.
The attendees also participated in a question-and-answer session. The insights shared by medical professionals were both interesting and valuable for club members, as well as for the staff and volunteers of the organisation.
