The Work of Mobile Health Units in Bukovyna
Mobile health units of the Ukrainian Red Cross provide primary medical care in remote villages and towns of the regions. This allows people with limited mobility and disabilities, the elderly or other vulnerable populations to be examined by a doctor in a timely manner and receive the necessary medical care.
Each unit consists of a family doctor, a nurse, and a driver who make visits to communities with limited access to medical services. During these visits, the specialists from the mobile health unit:
- consult and examine people’s health status;
- measure blood pressure, blood sugar, and blood oxygen levels;
- prescribe a treatment regimen to alleviate health conditions;
- issue referrals to specialised medical practitioners when necessary.
