The Ukrainian Red Cross and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine have signed a memorandum of cooperation

Today, Maksym Dotsenko, Director General of the Ukrainian Red Cross, and Andrii Danyk, Head of the State Emergency Service (SES) of Ukraine, signed a memorandum aimed at ensuring an effective and prompt response to emergencies while protecting the population in such situations.

“The Ukrainian Red Cross and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine have many years of experience in responding to crises. Unfortunately, the war has introduced new challenges, and we are now working together at the sites of attacks to assist those affected by the destruction of critical infrastructure and residential buildings. The signing of this memorandum will further strengthen our cooperation and support for first responders and those in need. Our priorities remain focused on providing logistical support for the SES units and volunteer fire brigades, enhancing community resilience in responding to emergencies, raising public awareness of current threats, and conducting educational outreach activities in educational institutions,” stated Maksym Dotsenko during the meeting.

In particular, the Ukrainian Red Cross has recently handed over 745 personal safety and emergency decontamination kits for chemical, radiological, and radiation threats, as well as 3,000 protective suits to the SES. Simultaneously, as part of a nationwide project to enhance the safety of local communities, protective clothing, fire helmets, gloves, and primary fire extinguishing and warning equipment were provided to 200 local communities to equip volunteer fire brigades.

Additionally, eight regional branches of the Ukrainian Red Cross have joined the territorial subsystems of the Unified State System of Civil Protection, with two more expected to join by the end of the year.
