In August, mobile health units of the Ukrainian Red Cross visited 56 towns and villages in the Sumy region
These visits enabled family doctors to conduct 2,880 patient examinations.
Mobile health units reach the most remote communities in the region, where access to medical care is limited, and provide primary health care to people.
The units’ specialists examine patients, measure blood pressure, and determine blood glucose and oxygenation levels. If necessary, a doctor provides primary medical care on-site or refers patients for specialised consultation. They also dispense free over-the-counter medicines for general therapeutic use to help stabilise a patient’s health. In life-threatening situations, the units transport patients to the nearest hospital.
Six mobile health units of the Ukrainian Red Cross operate in the region, providing services in the Krolevets, Trostianets, Hlukhiv, Nedryhailiv, Vilshany, Korovyntsi, Putyvl, and Krasnopillia communities.
The Mobile Health Units programme is implemented in the Sumy region with the support of the Swedish Red Cross.
