Last night, another evacuation train from the Donetsk region arrived in Cherkasy

A total of 114 people, including families with children, pensioners, and individuals with disabilities, were evacuated from the areas affected by shelling to a safer region of the country.

The evacuees were met by the Cherkasy regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross in coordination with representatives from the regional state administration and the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Cherkasy region.

Volunteers from the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team in the Cherkasy region assisted with unloading luggage from the train, helped passengers disembark, and accompanied and transported people with limited mobility. Mental health and psychosocial support specialists were also present at the station, offering psychological first aid as needed. Additionally, the evacuees were provided with snacks and essential information.

Currently, all evacuees are accommodated in specially equipped centres that meet all necessary conditions. The Cherkasy regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross, with the support of the Canadian Red Cross, is repairing shelters in the region and equipping them with essential furniture and appliances. These efforts aim to ensure that evacuees have comfortable and cosy living conditions.
