A new manual on safeguarding the Red Cross emblem in Ukraine has been released

The Ukrainian Red Cross Society (Ukrainian Red Cross) has published an updated Compilation of Key Sources on the Use and Protection of the Red Cross Emblem in Ukraine.

The new 2024 manual contains a systematic compilation of regulations governing the use of the distinctive emblems of the Red Cross, Red Crescent, and Red Crystal in Ukraine. To address systematic violations of the rules regarding the use of Red Cross symbols, the manual provides detailed information on:

  • International legal sources regarding the use and protection of distinctive emblems.
  • Ukrainian legislation concerning the use and protection of these emblems.
  • Normative sources of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement on emblem use and protection.
  • Legal consequences for the unlawful use of Red Cross symbols in Ukraine.

One of the key responsibilities of the Ukrainian Red Cross is to uphold international humanitarian law and protect the distinctive emblems of the Red Cross, Red Crescent, and Red Crystal.
