A new guide on volunteer development is now available for use

How can organisations attract and, most importantly, retain volunteers? This task requires strong leadership, effective communication, and excellent organisational skills. Volunteerism has always been and continues to be the cornerstone of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. It is difficult to imagine the Ukrainian Red Cross without the dedication and willingness of our volunteers to provide help.

In the updated Volunteer Development Guide, we have compiled the best practices from the past five years in volunteer management. This document is designed to assist professionals and volunteers with practical planning, recruitment, and training, as well as managing ongoing work and performance evaluation. The methodology aims to help everyone set priorities in their community work, understand how to maintain their motivation and avoid burnout.

This edition is the second update of the Volunteer Development Guide since 2018 and will not be the last. Volunteer management is a dynamic process that must adapt to evolving needs and challenges in society. Therefore, at the end of this guide, you will find an email address to send your feedback, suggestions, and personal stories.
