In the Sumy region, support is provided to households affected by the consequences of the war
“No institute has studied bees 100 per cent! I can talk about them for hours and still not cover everything, even with what I know,” shares Volodymyr Manko, a Ukrainian Red Cross Livelihoods Support Programme participant.
A family of pensioners lives in the village of Chapliivka. The apiary is both a hobby and a family business, providing a significantly higher income than their pension.
Thanks to his participation in the Livelihoods Programme, Volodymyr managed to compensate for the loss of bees due to winter frost. He practically lives at the apiary and continues to develop his business.
The Ukrainian Red Cross, with support from the Swedish Red Cross, is implementing a programme in the Sumy region to support the livelihoods of households negatively affected by the consequences of the war. Residents of the Klyshky, Chapliivka, and Voronizh districts and the city of Shostka are participating in the programme. One hundred fifty households have received financial assistance to develop their businesses.
