In Kherson, the Ukrainian Red Cross conducted training on psychological first aid for complex reactions and situations
Employees and volunteers of the Ukrainian Red Cross Kherson regional emergency response team are often involved in responding to emergencies such as shelling, flooding, and evacuating people to safer places. These events can evoke complex reactions among affected individuals, requiring specialised support. Therefore, every team member should know and be able to provide psychological first aid.
The training included a theoretical part, during which the participants learned about the peculiarities of reactions and support for people of different ages and about techniques for providing assistance in cases of varying complexity. Practical exercises allowed them to practise the skills required for delivering timely and appropriate psychological first aid.
The training programme was developed by the Danish Red Cross in collaboration with the Ukrainian Red Cross.
