In the Rivne region, 80 social assistants take care of more than 350 lonely elderly people
In the Rivne region, nearly 80 social assistants of the Ukrainian Red Cross provide care for more than 350 clients across 79 towns and villages. The programme’s beneficiaries are usually lonely elderly people and people with disabilities who require assistance in daily life and care.
These social assistants help clean, cook, and take out the garbage, provide hygiene services, and purchase and deliver food, water, medicines, and other essentials. However, the most crucial things they offer are conversation, friendship, and psychosocial support, recognising that loneliness is the most challenging thing for lonely people to experience.
We stand by those in need.
