The National Guard of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Red Cross signed a Memorandum of Cooperation and Partnership

The purpose of this Memorandum is to coordinate efforts to address the needs of veterans and their families, as well as military personnel transitioning from military to civilian life. Additionally, it aims to facilitate cooperation in training both medical and non-medical personnel of the National Guard of Ukraine (NGU) in tactical medicine. Furthermore, it outlines joint outreach activities aimed at educating communities about the risks of explosive ordnance and the rules of safer behaviour.

“The Ukrainian Red Cross plays a supporting role in implementing state humanitarian policies and in the field of medicine. Physical and mental rehabilitation of veterans returning from the front lines to civilian life is one of the main areas we are developing. The Ukrainian Red Cross is prepared to offer comprehensive assistance to support veterans and their families,” emphasised Maksym Dotsenko, Director General of the National Committee of the Ukrainian Red Cross.

The main areas of cooperation include:

  • conducting joint events to provide psychosocial support to NGU veterans and their families;
  • assisting in conducting recovery activities for NGU psychologists,
  • training of mental health specialists, including training and support for supervisors among the National Guard psychologists;
  • conducting outreach activities on the risks of explosive ordnance and rules of safer behaviour;
  • providing social support for family members of servicemen killed, captured, or missing and offering assistance from the Ukrainian Red Cross to these families.

In addition, representatives of the Ukrainian Red Cross handed over special information stands to assist NGU specialists in conducting activities to prevent risks associated with explosive devices. These stands will also aid in training civilians and children on the rules of safer behaviour, activities which the NGU conducts regularly.
