On Thursday evening, a solid waste fire broke out in a village in the Uzhhorod district. To extinguish the fire, 22 vehicles and 66 employees of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Zakarpattia region were mobilised.

Volunteers of the emergency response team of the Zakarpattia regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross joined the firefighters to help extinguish the fire. They set up an aid station at the scene of the incident, where emergency workers could receive first aid, hot drinks, water, and snacks.

It took over 10 hours to extinguish the large-scale fire completely. Throughout this time, volunteers remained on-site to support firefighters and utility workers.
