2,500 Ukrzaliznytsia Conductors Have Undergone first aid training from the Ukrainian Red Cross
Since the beginning of the year, Ukrainian Red Cross first aid instructors have conducted dozens of 6-hour training sessions for Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways) employees who daily work with passengers, including those on evacuation trains from the frontline.
“The primary goal of such training is to prepare conductors to follow the correct algorithm of actions in the event of an emergency involving a deterioration in the passenger’s health. Scenarios may vary widely, from injuries or wounds to loss of consciousness. Our training sessions prioritise practical exercises, comprising 60% of the curriculum, which, when executed correctly, can save lives. For effective learning, our instructors work with small groups to ensure each participant has the opportunity to practise on manikins, apply bandages, or use tourniquets independently,” emphasised Nadiia Yamnenko, Head of the First Aid Unit at the Ukrainian Red Cross.
In the second year of the full-scale invasion, first aid skills remain critically important. This year, more than 250,000 people have been trained by Ukrainian Red Cross instructors and are ready to save lives in emergency situations.
