The Ukrainian Red Cross, together with partners within the International Red Cross Movement, will develop a roadmap for humanitarian response in the area of rehabilitation
A one-day rehabilitation forum, organised by the Ukrainian Red Cross and attended by partners from the International Red Cross Movement, is taking place in Lviv today. The event aims to create a joint roadmap for humanitarian response in the area of rehabilitation to address the urgent needs and requests of people affected by the war.
“The issue of rehabilitation has reached a new level today. It is important not only for humanitarian organisations and the government but also for society as a whole. Although many rehabilitation centres have been opened and numerous rehabilitation and support programmes have been implemented during the two years of war, we now see that this is not enough. The number of people in need is growing every day. Today, we need to discuss how to do even more good deeds in the field of rehabilitation, how to help even more veterans and develop more effective solutions for them,” stated Maksym Dotsenko, Director General of the Ukrainian Red Cross.
“My experience of working with the Ukrainian Red Cross dates back to 2022. It was then that I first met the team and leadership of the organisation. Over the past two years, we have already implemented several significant projects, but this is only a part of our ideas. We have many more plans ahead, and first of all, we are already building a humanitarian ecosystem for rehabilitation and support in Lviv so that people can receive quality assistance,” emphasised Andriy Sadovyi, Mayor of Lviv.
For the second year in a row, the International Rehabilitation Forum, with the participation of international experts, specialists and stakeholders in physical and mental rehabilitation, has been held in Lviv at the initiative of the Ukrainian Red Cross and the Mayor of Lviv.
