Training for Managers and Volunteers of Active Longevity Clubs Held in Kropyvnytskyi
With the support of the Swiss Red Cross, the Kirovohrad regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross organised a training session for managers and volunteers of Active Longevity Clubs. Representatives from local communities, including Haivoron, Novomyrhorod, Znamianka, Dobrovelychkivka, Moshorino, Onufriivka, and Bohdanivka, participated in the training. During the session, participants learned more about the activities of the Ukrainian Red Cross, engaged in workshops, and discussed issues related to the organisation of Active Longevity Clubs.
Together, the participants identified the main areas of work for the Active Longevity Clubs in the region, including:
- Physical activities such as Nordic walking, exercises, dancing, and physical therapy;
- Vocal and choral activities;
- Arts and crafts.
Additionally, the participants discussed potential challenges in implementing the programme’s activities and explored opportunities to raise funds and engage volunteers for further activities of the Active Longevity Clubs. The Ukrainian Red Cross instructors also conducted a 6-hour first aid training session for the managers and volunteers.
It is worth mentioning that Active Longevity Clubs serve as a space for elderly individuals to connect with like-minded peers, socialise, receive comprehensive support, acquire new skills, and demonstrate their volunteer or civic involvement.
