Evacuation of People with Limited Mobility from Huliaipole
People with limited mobility are unable to leave the area affected by shelling without assistance due to their health conditions. Renting a car is expensive, and not every driver wants to go to settlements located just a few kilometres from the line of active hostilities.
Volunteers of the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response teams are helping to evacuate people in various regions. In the Zaporizhzhia region, the team is assisting residents in leaving Huliaipole. The town has suffered damage from shelling, with houses destroyed, logistics disrupted, and some areas lacking water, gas, or electricity supply. These challenges, coupled with the risks of ongoing shelling, compromise people’s safety and well-being.
Therefore, volunteers continue to take risks to evacuate those most in need, using specially equipped vehicles capable of transporting individuals in a horizontal position and relying on the volunteers’ ability to provide the necessary first aid.
