In Kyiv, Teams of the Ukrainian Red Cross Staff and Volunteers Participate in the Hands-On Training Session on the Use of New Water Purification Equipment
In early May, teams of the Ukrainian Red Cross staff and volunteers from across the country spent two days in Kyiv, where they participated in a hands-on training session on using new water purification equipment.
As water supply infrastructure has been disrupted by the war, the provision of new water purification equipment becomes vital for emergency response and maintaining public health during recovery.
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies has stepped in to support Ukrainians by purchasing 115 filtration systems. Among them are 10 large units, each capable of filtering up to 1,500 litres per hour, and 5 units for desalinating salt water. Additionally, smaller units are available, capable of filtering 300 litres of water per hour. These filtration systems play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of existing water supplies and quickly addressing the drinking water problem.
