In Cherkasy, the Ukrainian Red Cross Has Provided Food for 200 Pets Whose Owners Sought Safety from the War’s Shelling

The Cherkasy regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross has provided 3 to 10 kg of food for cats and dogs of small, medium, and large breeds. This support is crucial for internally displaced persons, many of whom have lost everything – home, savings, and work – and are now rebuilding their lives from scratch. The project to support IDPs’ four-legged friends is implemented in cooperation with Humane Society International (HSI).

It should be noted that a psychosocial support location was set up during pet food distribution. Here, animal owners could find emotional relief, improve their mood and mental health. The location was visited by many children, who, together with a team of volunteers from the Mental Health and Psychosocial Support unit of the Ukrainian Red Cross, created ‘Warm Postcards’ for pets. For adults, the volunteers conducted an information session on stress management and self-care techniques during times of crisis.

We stand by those in need.
