Dear Friends, You Are Invited to Visit the “Stories Written by War” Photo Exhibition at the Museum of Kyiv History, May 9-19, 2024
- The photo exhibition is dedicated to showcasing the activities of the Ukrainian Red Cross during the war and honouring World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day.
Featuring 30 photographs, each telling a unique story captured by volunteers and renowned photojournalists, the exhibition documents the realities of war in Ukraine. These images vividly depict the significant role of the Ukrainian Red Cross in supporting the population. Already, 12.5 million Ukrainians have received assistance from the Ukrainian Red Cross across the country, and this support will continue as long as there is demand.
Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the work of the largest humanitarian organisation through the lens of war, delving into various aspects of its activities, from providing first aid to the victims of shelling to playing a crucial role in the restoration of medical facilities.
The photographs in the exhibition not only reflect the events of the full-scale invasion but also convey a deep meaning and emotional connection with the characters in these stories. Each shot serves as a testament to the courage, solidarity, and dedication of the Ukrainian people: evacuating people from flooded Kherson and frontline settlements, providing first aid and psychological first aid to the injured, rebuilding rehabilitation centres in Liutizh and Lviv, assisting the State Emergency Service of Ukraine during rescue operations, offering home-based care for the elderly, and providing mine risk education. This is the daily reality of volunteers who stand ready to help around the clock, knowing that each moment may be their last.
To emphasise the importance of life-saving skills, the Ukrainian Red Cross team invites you to participate in specially prepared events during the exhibition, where you can gain valuable knowledge essential during times of war:
