The Emergency Response Team from Zakarpattia Region Has Successfully Completed Training in International Trauma Life Support
Training and skill development are crucial for successful teamwork, particularly in emergency situations. That is why volunteers of the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response teams, who are often among the first to arrive at the scene of emergencies, receive regular training.
For example, six volunteers of the emergency response team of the Zakarpattia regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross have recently completed training and successfully passed the International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) certification exam at the Special Training Centre in Kyiv.
The International Trauma Life Support – Duty to Respond training is designed to equip individuals who are duty-bound to administer first aid and are typically the first responders to emergency situations with the skills to manage critical trauma patients. Accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Pre-Hospital Continuing Education, this training is mandatory for rescue services internationally and holds recognition in 83 countries.
The programme included scene assessment, primary and secondary examination of the patient, application of the CABC algorithm, first aid for severe bleeding and airway obstruction, methods of fixing injuries, emergency management at the scene, and simulation training of 16 critical condition scenarios. The training focused primarily on practical exercises and skill development.
Well done to the team of volunteers! With their new skills and knowledge, our volunteers are better prepared to face the challenges they may encounter during emergencies.
