Stay Safe: Mine Risk Trainings
Awareness-raising on mine risk is an important activity of the Ukrainian Red Cross. Given the constant threat of shelling and partial mining in the frontline and border regions of Ukraine, information on how to handle explosive ordnance is particularly valuable. According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, it will take 5 to 10 years to clear the territory of Ukraine.
“This topic is highly relevant today, especially in areas affected by or involved in hostilities, where numerous mined areas pose significant risks,” emphasises Serhii Halperin, a mine risk educator at the Chernihiv regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross.
In Ukraine, 170 volunteer instructors of the Ukrainian Red Cross conduct mine risk education sessions across 14 regions and in the city of Kyiv.
