Training in Psychological First Aid Was Held in Uzhhorod at the Centre for Psychosocial Support
The training was attended by staff and volunteers from the Tiachiv, Velykyi Bereznyi, Irshava, Mizhhiria territorial communities, the cities of Uzhhorod, and Mukachevo, as well as social assistants from the Home-Based Care activity of the Zakarpattia regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross. The participants learned from psychological first aid instructors Kvitoslava Bachynska and Iryna Pasevych about:
- What psychological first aid (PFA) entails
- Identification of crisis events and reactions to them
- Principles of action, known as LLL (‘Look, Listen, Link’)
- How to make referrals
- Self-care techniques
Given the potential encounters with individuals experiencing severe stress during events such as meetings, evacuations, and providing assistance, it’s crucial to be equipped to offer timely support when needed. The training was conducted as part of the #EU4Health programme, with support from the European Commission.
