The All-Ukrainian Working Meeting of Regional Teams of the Ukrainian Red Cross in the ‘Home-Based Care’ Activity was Held in Vinnytsia
The meeting discussed ways and prospects for developing the ‘Home-Based Care’ activity and improving the services provided by social helpers of the Ukrainian Red Cross.
Over the course of four days, the participants:
- exchanged experiences with their colleagues on the challenges that social helpers face while working with their beneficiaries;
- considered the prospects for developing active longevity programs in Ukraine as a comprehensive support tool for the elderly and for strengthening community capacity to address their social needs;
- enhanced skills in supporting the mental health of beneficiaries and in receiving feedback from the communities;
- analyzed prospects for the development of the ‘Home-Based Care’ activity;
- discussed issues related to involving volunteers in beneficiary care and improving cooperation with local authorities.
Currently, nearly 1,160 social helpers of the Ukrainian Red Cross provide comprehensive humanitarian assistance to more than 6,500 lonely elderly people across the country every day. These social helpers offer household assistance, care, emotional support, and help in addressing the social needs of their beneficiaries.
