In Cherkasy region, the Ukrainian Red Cross has implemented a project to renovate the laundry room at the Cherkasy Geriatric Boarding House
Renovations were made at the boarding house to the roof of the facade and the engine room. Above all, modern equipment was installed, including an industrial washing machine with a 30 kg load capacity, a laundry centrifuge, and an ironing roller for drying and ironing clothes.
The provision of social services will now be of high quality, fast, and simple, thus enhancing the comfort of the residents of the boarding house. Currently, there are 160 people living here, including 45 who are internally displaced. Additionally, there are 28 residents with serious illnesses requiring external care and regular sanitary and hygienic treatment.
“It was important for us to support the staff and strengthen the material and technical base to ensure proper work of the personnel and appropriate care for the patients,” said Yulia Kholodna, head of the Cherkasy regional organization of the Ukrainian Red Cross.
The reconstruction was carried out with the support of our partner, the Canadian Red Cross.
Earlier, the Cherkasy regional organization of the Ukrainian Red Cross provided 160 sets of sleeping kits for the facility’s residents, each consisting of a pillow, bedding, a winter blanket, and two towels.
