A delegation of the Ukrainian and Japanese Red Cross held a working meeting in Tokyo
Iryna Martyniuk, an expert of the Ukrainian Red Cross Mobile Health Units department, met with Kentaro Nagazumi, Director General of the Japanese Red Cross, and Toshihiko Suzuki, Vice President of the Japanese Red Cross. During the meeting, they discussed:
- the results of cooperation between the Ukrainian and Japanese Red Cross in providing humanitarian aid to the affected population;
- the experience of the Ukrainian Red Cross in responding to emergencies that have been occurring in Ukraine;
- the support for the state healthcare system.
With the support of its partner National Societies of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, the Ukrainian Red Cross implements projects to improve the lives and health of Ukrainians during the war and other emergencies in the country. The Mobile Health Units of the Ukrainian Red Cross operate nearly all over Ukraine, providing primary health care in the remotest communities. In addition, there is an extensive network of Ukrainian Red Cross social helpers in all regions of the country who care for and support lonely older adults. The Ukrainian Red Cross also informs the public about ways of preventing the most common diseases, healthy lifestyles, etc.
The Japanese Red Cross is a key partner of the Ukrainian Red Cross in providing humanitarian aid to the people of Ukraine. It has been supporting five Mobile Health Units in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, the construction of a new unit of the UNBROKEN rehabilitation center in Lviv, providing financial assistance to households that have taken in Internally Displaced People, and contributing to the emergency reserve fund of the Ukrainian Red Cross.
