The Ukrainian Red Cross helps people affected by flooding in the Kherson region

According to the official information of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, today, June 6, at 3 am, Russian occupants blew up the dam of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant. This caused rapid flooding of the surrounding settlements, which endangered the lives of Ukrainian civilians. Approximately 16,000 people remain in the critical flood zone on the right bank of the Kherson region.

Volunteers of the Ukrainian Red Cross are already working at the emergency site. More details will follow later.

According to international humanitarian law, specifically Article 56 of Additional Protocol I of 1977 to the Geneva Conventions, military actions against the Kakhovka HPP qualify as one of the most severe war crimes and are a flagrant violation of the laws and customs of war.
