Ukrainian Red Cross informs of mine dangers in Kharkiv region

Three to eight people die every week in the Izium district of Kharkiv region as a result of mine injuries.

These are the statistics provided by the Kharkiv Regional State Administration for the Izium district and the city of Izium itself. As of today, these areas are the most heavily mined in Ukraine.

Given this situation, volunteer instructors of the Kharkiv regional organization of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society have been conducting information sessions for the local population every Tuesday since the beginning of 2023, telling them about the dangers posed by mines and other explosive remnants of war.

It should be noted that all the information sessions are quite emotionally difficult, as they are accompanied by stories of local residents, including children. At the age of 7-12, local children can already distinguish between munitions, and some have seen them detonate and injure themselves.

We will continue our activities not only in Izium and the surrounding villages, but also throughout the country to save lives.
