Red Cross increases the presence in Balakleya district

According to the latest information on situation in Balakleya (Kharkiv region), employees and volunteers of the National Committee of URCS today joined their colleagues from the Kharkov regional branch at about 10 a.m.

As the head of the Emergency Response Department of the National Committee Yulia Galagan said, from 7 a.m. March 23, explosions of shells are no longer audible, miners of State Emergency Service of Ukraine are working at the scene of events. According to preliminary data, 2 people are dead.

At the moment, the URCS’ employees and volunteers have finished unloading the humanitarian aid, in particular blankets, food and water, that were purchased to cover the current needs of local population evacuated from Balakleya. Now they are in the process of evacuation of people with disabilities from the site of events.

Also, the staff of the ICRC arrived at the site of events to assess needs and to provide joint help together with URCS staff to local affected population. At the moment, the URCS and ICRC staff went to Balakleya District Primary Health Care Center to transfer part of the medical drugs. The entire volume of medical drugs are expected closer to 4 p.m. today.
