Ukrainian Red Cross volunteers assist people affected by the attack on central Chernihiv
According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU), Russian forces attacked central Chernihiv this afternoon. Preliminary reports indicate that two 15-year-old girls were killed. Nine other people were injured, including two children. The strike also sparked fires in a shop and two cars.
Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team volunteers are working at the scene alongside other emergency services. In coordination with SESU, they are conducting door-to-door checks to identify people affected by the attack. Five people have received first aid. The volunteers also transported two injured people — a 17-year-old boy and a 45-year-old man — to the hospital. Psychological first aid is being provided to people experiencing acute stress reactions.
Response efforts are ongoing.
