Ukrainian Red Cross Community Centers take part in Ukrainian Climate Week 2026
Ukrainian Red Cross Community Centers provide spaces for interaction, collective action and initiatives that matter to local communities.
They also take part in environmental activities that raise awareness of climate change and encourage people to care for the environment.
As part of Ukrainian Climate Week, teams from local Ukrainian Red Cross branches and Community Centers in Korop, Irshava, Zaporizhzhia, Zbarazh, Dnipro and Kamianets-Podilskyi took part in the initiative. They organised information sessions and themed events, held community clean-ups, involved children and young people in discussions, and created opportunities for creative expression and the exchange of ideas.
Participants discussed responsible consumption, waste sorting, natural resource conservation, the efficient use of electricity, water and heating, the environmental impact of the war, and opportunities for Ukraine’s green recovery. Activities included community clean-ups, sessions for schoolchildren on responsible consumption, an exhibition of creative works entitled “The Future of the Planet Is in Our Hands”, the information campaign “Climate Starts with Us: Understand, Act, Change”, and interactive activities for children and young people.
Cooperation with local partners, including educational institutions, libraries, support centres and other community organisations, was an important part of the initiative. In Dnipro, for example, activities were organised in partnership with the Bakhmut District Support Centre “Bakhmut District Unites”, the Mezhova Community Support Centre and the Dnipro City Public Library. Such cooperation helps pool resources, engage more residents and develop joint initiatives that benefit the community.
These initiatives not only help raise awareness of climate change and responsible consumption but also bring people together around a shared goal.
