The Ukrainian Red Cross provided over UAH 291 million in cash assistance to residents of frontline regions in six months
From April to September 2026, the Ukrainian Red Cross provided financial support to people affected by the war. The assistance was intended to cover the essential needs of residents of frontline communities, support households facing difficult circumstances, and help people affected by attacks, those forced to evacuate, or those belonging to vulnerable groups.
Almost 25,000 people received payments totalling over UAH 291 million.
Under the Unified Cash Transfers (UCT) Programme, support is provided according to people’s individual circumstances and identified assistance priorities. This enables the Ukrainian Red Cross to respond promptly to humanitarian needs and help people cope with financial difficulties caused by the war.
The cash assistance allows recipients to decide how best to use the funds according to their needs, whether to buy food and medicines, pay for housing and utility bills, or cover other essential expenses.
The programme covers Kharkiv, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Donetsk, Chernihiv, Sumy, Mykolaiv and Odesa regions.
The programme is implemented by the Ukrainian Red Cross with support from the U.S., the Norwegian Red Cross, the Danish Red Cross, the British Red Cross and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
