Ukrainian Red Cross Community Center in Ternopil Holds Inclusive Communication Training for Around 70 Youth and Sports Professionals

Accessibility and inclusion begin with the way we communicate with one another. For these principles to work in practice, it is important that they are understood and shared by professionals and organisations across the community.

The Ukrainian Red Cross Community Center in Ternopil, together with the Youth and Sports Department of the Ternopil Regional Military Administration, held a training session on inclusive language and communication for around 70 professionals working in the youth and sports sectors. Participants discussed the person-first approach, respectful communication, accessibility awareness, and the impact of language on how people are perceived.

The training also covered communication relating to the rights and interests of people with disabilities, the basics of sign language, and inclusive digital tools.

For the Community Center, initiatives like this are about more than training — they are also about strengthening partnerships within the community. Working with local institutions and professionals helps promote inclusive practices and foster an environment in which people with diverse experiences and needs have equal opportunities to participate and engage.
